Hubbard's Foodstore: English Mustard

32p Sainsbury's (180 g)

32 pence doesn't go far these days: currently the standardised measure of the inflation of British Pence Stirling, the Freddo Chocolate Bar, stands at a whopping 25 p. However what if I told you, dearest uksaucereview reader, that with 32 pence you could in fact purchase a well of tangy, hot, fulfilling europhia into which you could dip your spoon time and time again, reaching ever greater and greater heights?

Indeed what Old Mother Hubbard has conjured up here for her Sainsbury's value brand Hubbard's Foodstores is nothing short of sensational. Her English Mustard looks and tastes great (once you get it out the rather bland pot that is). It's one of few items I consistently pull out of the fridge and I have found myself spreading it on and dipping into it all manner of things (I am not quite at buttered toast levels yet but it does go well with a pizza crust). I can only praise Mrs Hubbard for what she has done here for the UK: her complete compromise on making any profit has come at zero expense of the taste. It truly is sauces like this that make me proud to be UK-ish.

Verdict: Cuts the mustard
